Helmi is written for flute and electronics, drawing inspiration from the month of February. The piece is an ode to love and friendship. The flute is bursting of excitement, snowplow is turned into a groovy synth and a piano frame imitates icy particles and pearls. You can hear goodbyes from a lover at a door, squeaky winter boots in a stairwell and the door opening to a city dampened by the piles of snow.

Helmi is dedicated to friends, sisters and lovers.

The piece was premiered by Earth Ears Ensemble at GÁTT Nordic Arts Festival 23.8.2024 in Hietsun paviljonki, Helsinki.
